CRYPTOFUN:

Anna Norrevik:

My name is Anna Norrevik and I'm the CEO of Antler Interactive, which is the studio behind My Neighbor Alice. I've been 7 years in the games industry including 5 years at Paradox Interactive, as team leader/producer for 7 expansions, including the largest game project at Paradox, Crusader Kings 3, which was released on Sept 1st 2020.

Lenny | Antler Interactive:

CRYPTOFUN:

Very cool, look like My Neighbor Alice have a great team ! I hope this project can develop even better

Q1: Could you please give us a simple introduction of My Neighbor Alice? What’s the motivation for starting build My Neighbor Alice?

Anna Norrevik:

My Neighbor Alice is a multiplayer builder game, where anyone can buy and own virtual islands, collect and build exciting items, and meet new friends. Inspired by successful games such as Animal Crossing, the game combines the best of the two worlds - a fun narrative for regular players who want to enjoy the gameplay experience as well as an ecosystem for players who want to collect and trade NFTs, even if they have no idea what an NFT is.
The idea was born from our Art Director Oliwer Svensson. Inspiration comes from smaller town building games with a community that shares their creation and comes up with creative ways to build.

CRYPTOFUN:

Q2. What makes My Neighbor Alice special? How is My Neighbor Alice better than other platforms?

Anna Norrevik:

My Neighbor Alice is unique in that it is an open-world game with a strong visual identity based on appealing images, fun characters and cuteness, intended for non-blockchain skilled players as the primary target group. Our competitors in the blockchain space usually target the crypto community and our competitors in the gaming space usually don't offer options in the game to monetize your creations.
We offer players a way of monetizing their effort, creativity and talent by being able to create and shape assets that they can later sell to other players.

CRYPTOFUN:

Q3. About My Neighbor Alice Security, how do you protect user data? how safe and strong is My Neighbor Alice security system?

Anastasia:

Great question. It is not clear what safety & security means here, of course nothing can ever be secure enough, we can although compare ourselves with the direct competitors.
Originals is Chromia's non fungible asset protocol, it allows to decentralize complex logic and information (such as values.) This means that your non fungible assets (what in Ethereum are known as NFTs) are much more decentralized than other blockchains, this translates into shifting the control over these assets from us (the game developers) towards the users. The bottom line is that you have more freedom to use the assets and - should the company ever fail - you'll be able to play the whole game with your assets on blockchain forever.
Should we get hacked, this would not change much for the users. The process of full decentralization will be progressive (and probably slow) but the whole point is to transfer the ownership to the community that will be able to take more and more decisions autonomously in DAO like fashion (atm called Chromunity)

CRYPTOFUN:

Q4. What My Neighbor Alice business target audience? Do you see opportunities in developing countries like Southeast Asia?

Lenny | Antler Interactive:

Our primary target audience is non-blockchain people, 18-39 years old and female skewed. Fans of builder games games such as Animal Crossing, Minecraft and Stardew Valley. We will create a very smooth onboarding for those people that have never heard of a crypto wallet and that they, later in the game, find out about the benefits of using blockchain to monetize their efforts and trade with friends. That´s how we foresee that we can introduce blockchain features to a much larger audience than exisiting blockchain/crypto games out there.

CRYPTOFUN:

Q5. Can you tell about My Neighbor Alice roadmap for the present and the future? How far has My Neighbor Alice been developed?

Anna Norrevik:

We started developing MNA in 2020 and we currently have a Steam build, which is in early prototype stage, to test for anyone who has already invested in the ALICE token. The next step in our roadmap is to release an Early access version on Steam in summer of 2021 and then release a 1.0 version of the game in Q1/Q2 2022.
The long-term vision for the ALICE token is to have a decentralised governance model and DAO driven game development. ALICE token holders will be invited to join the Decentralised Autonomous Organization called the Community Council. Players get to vote on important game proposals and issues, additional functionality, new NFTs and approving NFTs created by users with the help of an NFT creator.

SESSION 2 QUESTION FROM TWITTER

CRYPTOFUN:

Q1. From: @LongPhuoc7139

Seeing the announcement that My Neighbor Alice has collaborated with DAO Maker, what are the goals & objectives in cooperation otherwise knows as SHO ? Will there be big news or developments in My Neighbor Alice project in building the ecosystem in collaboration with DAO Maker?

Lenny | Antler Interactive:

We´ll release more information about the SHO, right now all I can say is that we´re really excited about the partnership with DAO Maker?

CRYPTOFUN:

Q2. From: @Ontortk

My neighbor Alice announced that partnered with Bounce Finance. why did you choose Bounce Finance as your partner to integrate the Gamifed market + NFT products initiative? And What are the benefits that Bounce Finance brings to this project?

Lenny | Antler Interactive:

Great question and we´re really excited about the partnership! The Bounce Finance platform creates new decentralized ways for making predictions by combining auction models and tools to build sets of prediction models and markets. The cryptocurrency prediction market is open to everyone to participate or create prediction pools at any time. Bounce prediction markets are designed with focus on ease to use and elegant calculations. You can read more about the partnership here.

CRYPTOFUN:

Q3. From: @Ethereum447

About the My Neighbor Alice game model, when the player builds his own land and decorates the NFT, can they get an economic benefit at the same time? Or do NFT only represent artistic capital on their platforms? And for $ALICE what are the benefits of holding it?

Anastasia:

ALICE is an in-game currency which you will use in order to purchase in-game items and NFTs in the marketplace and win as a reward during competitions and quests. What is more, owning an ALICE token will enable you to stake them in return for a reward and participate in the governance process through the Community Council.
Everyone who owns ALICE tokens will be able to join the Community Council and participate in the governance process by voting, proposing improvements and deciding on the budget.
There are a proportion of the tokens reserved for user incentives. By completing quests in the game, players could earn ALICE tokens. This design is to encourage everything and everybody involved in the community of The ALICE game is being rewarded for their participation.

There are many ways in which users can monetize their time on the platform:
Staking Yield and Earnings: One of our strategic visions within My Neighbor Alice is to create monetary incentives for the most committed and motivated players.Based on our staking and reward projections, we will allocate a fair amount of tokens on staking rewards.
NFT incomes: NFTs, including land, can be rented to other players. The smart contract will make sure that the borrower cannot resell or destroy the object, and makes sure that object returns to the owner when the rent period ends.
Selling assets: Users can create and sell ASSETS as NFTs on the marketplace.
Playing and participating in the game: In the Game, not only can creators profit from their creations, players can play-to-earn by collecting resources, rewards, and tokens.

Q4. From: @maralus0811

Is there any invasion in the future that alice gonna in to playstation game? Thats fun if we know that there is crypto game in playstation network, thanks before.

Anna Norrevik:

We're planning to bring MNA to more platforms than Steam. First on our wishlist is a mobile version and a web based version. But we might look at more platforms later if we think it makes sense. Especially if we see an interest for it from the community, chances get bigger that we look at console as well.

CRYPTOFUN:

Q5. From: @mylhe

For non-gamer that want to be part in My Neighbor Alice, what are the features that is applicable for them? What are the welcoming bonus and promotion that is probably available for newbies and begginers in your platform? Do you have referral program?

Anastasia:

For new users we want to make sure it's as seamless as possible to start playing the game. One feature we have is the "Creative Mode" in order for people to try the game's mechanics without having to buy a plot etc. In addition, first time users will gain some Alice tokens and Alice welcome package for free so that they can get started quickly, and in order to make sure the plots are not all purchased immediately you'll have to log in to the game three days in a row to claim the land which has previously then been reserved for you.
And of course all new users will get a warm welcome by Alice herself and will help onboard new players with fun quests to complete which will let them find out more about the game
After all she's your new neighbor
Check out our new teaser for the game!

SESSION 3 LIVE QUESTION

Doctor Crypto mangunkusumo:

one of the interesting features of My Neighbor Alice is meeting new friends. How do the players get to know each other? Does this require a third party social media platform?

Anastasia:

My Neighbor Alice is a multiplayer game that includes all the traditional benfits of the Online Multiplayer. You will be able connect in the same instance with another gamers, communicate with them via in-game chat, visit their villages and farms, meet in the shopping area of the neighborhood.
We released the cool blog where we listed all the activities you can do in My Neighbor Alice

Tea CookTai:

Having a Mobile App will certainly make it easier for users to access the My Neighbor Alice . Does My Neighbor Alice have any plans to release a Mobile App in the future?

Anna Norrevik:

Hi Tea CookTai, I completely agree with you. We do plan for a mobile version of the game after we have a good Steam build up and running. It would be very useful for us since our target audience is wide and we want to achieve a broad group of people playing our game with their available equipment, which is usually a phone. We decided to start on Steam though since a lot of gamers already are hanging out there, looking for new appealing games, like My Neighbor Alice.

G@briel@:

What would be the strategies to integrate both expert blockchain players and those who are not? just so that they learn from each other and thus form a much more solid community.

Anastasia:

My Neighbor Alice is primarily targeting non-crypto users, who can get easily onboarded from regular platforms, such as Steam and other major platforms. Despite its blockchain characteristics and in-game DeFi elements, only players will decide on how much they want to be involved in the game's decentralised features and DeFi and thus keep blockchain as an optional functionality.
What is more, the gaming industry is in a very interesting time period where procedural building games start trending and a very few interesting building games have successfully incorporated blockchain technology. We also believe that the style of the game can be uniquely identified. The game philosophy is memorable. I.e, we use “Alice” as a central figure in the game to connect the users to a “fantasized neighborhood”.

Cristóbal Zamora:

The last day to sign up for Early Access is February 5th, however, when do you plan to make it available to play?

Lenny | Antler Interactive:

We´re working hard to develop the game and the early access release is planned for Q3 2021. If you´ve signed up you´ll soon receive an email with more info:)

ucok keren:

Are you planning to develop other types of games instead of the island theme of "My Neighbor Alice"? Or will "Neighbor Alice" be your only blockchain-based game?

Anna Norrevik:

We are currently working on two projects, one of which is MNA and the other one being an open world RPG in a magic setting. MNA is more blockchain based but the second project will also have blockchain integrations in interesting ways. We're working closely with ChromaWay to find the best ways of integrating economies, and other blockchain utilities, in our games.

Anna Norrevik:

Thank you very much, great questions. Wishing everyone in the group a great remaining day!

Lenny | Antler Interactive:

Thanks Yuki and everyone, it was a pleasure to be part of this AMA, lots of new and interesting questions
